The LDR 5 mm Light Depending Resistor is a compact and reliable photoresistor designed to detect changes in ambient light. It operates by varying its resistance based on the intensity of light falling on its surface—resistance decreases as light increases. This makes it an essential component for light-sensing applications such as automatic lighting control, burglar alarms, and environmental monitoring.

Made with cadmium sulphide (CdS) photoconductive cells, the sensor mimics the spectral response of the human eye, offering accurate and responsive performance. It is easy to integrate into PCB designs using through-hole mounting and is suitable for both analog and digital applications.
